The Garfield School Design Team spent its time at the March 13, 2003, meeting working through an
exercise to assess the current state of Garfield High School. 
 
The team broke into eight sub-groups ("A" through "H"), and

Garfield in seven different Design Themes:
- Learner Centered Environment
 
- Personalizing Environment
 
- Program Adaptability
 
- Community Connections
 
- Aesthetics
 
- Safety
 
- Collaboration
 
 
assigning one of the following scores for each Theme:
- Undeveloped (0 points)
 
- Beginning (4 points)
 
- Emerging (8 points)
 
- Transformation Goal (12 points)
 
 
and providing high-level
